{"id":1042,"date":"2025-11-20T10:33:43","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T16:33:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.whiskingwitch.ca\/?page_id=1042"},"modified":"2025-12-08T07:55:22","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T13:55:22","slug":"dehydrated-sourdough-instructions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.whiskingwitch.ca\/index.php\/dehydrated-sourdough-instructions\/","title":{"rendered":"Dehydrated Sourdough Instructions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dehydrated Sourdough Instructions<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Equipment and ingredients required:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Clear glass jar or plastic container at least 500ml with lid<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an extra jar\/container to help with feeding your starter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kitchen scale<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All Purpose flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Filtered water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Instructions:<br>Day 1:<br>Mix 20g dehydrated starter with 40g water<br>Lightly cover with lid.<br>Let sit until rehydrated about 2 hrs<br>Add 20g flour, mix and let sit overnight, about 12 hrs<br>It should have the consistency and look of pancake batter<br>Day 2:<br>Add 60g flour, 60g water, mix and let sit overnight<br>Lightly cover with lid.<br>Day 3: <br>Now we will use the extra container.<br>Put your empty container on scale, add 50g water and 50g of the rehydrated starter. <br>Discard the extra starter, I use a paper towel and add it to my compost bin. DO NOT put down your sink, especially if you have a big amount of it, it is like cement and will cause problems. <br>After you have cleaned out your &#8220;main&#8221; jar\/container, add the water and starter back to it and then add the 50g of flour. Stir well until all the flour is incorporated. <br>Let sit at least 4hrs lightly covered with lid. It should double in volume and have some nice big bubbles.<br><br>You can now \u201cfeed\u201d your starter again, using equal parts starter, water and flour.
